KILL YOUR TELEVISION

As economic conditions worsen, our money worth less and less, the majority will spend more and more of their time escaping into fantasy worlds, sat in front of a screen, increasingly alienated from their immediate community, and contributing nothing to the sum total of our human stock.
Passively watching the ACTors is an alternative to ACTually ACTing oneself, keeping the majority in a depoliticised dream-state. Major changes to the world order are inevitable and imminent. A passive, braindead, hypnotised underclass will be in no position to make their voices heard when society reaches tipping point. This turning point could be an opportunity to usher in a more relaxed, collaborative global community. However, those who profit most from the materialist, consumerist ethos are the only voices that will be heard - unless we make it our life's work to stick a boot in this vicious circle of escalating escapism. All the world is ACTually a stage, and the time to ACT is now. All the world is a stage and YOU are the STAR. Its not work, its a play! All the world is a stage..lets make the next stage even better! I can't wait for the next ACT! Sittin' at home, watchin' TV, turn it off, it's no good to me, WHY DON'T YOU ...

DEVIL DEALIN'S DONE

DEVIL DEALIN'S DONE

Now, Ally she gawt plenty
An’ Ally she gawt none,
For Ol’ Jack’s en-ner-tainment
Sweltrin’ in the sun.

Now formless, sometimes frozen
Patterns in the sand,
Guides dat sometimes lazy god
To raise his ol’ right hand.

Now, if I knows somefin’,
Don’ let his left hand know,
His right hand may have made a fist
But never struck a blow.

Don’ summon up yer demons,
Don’ take ‘em on alone,
Don’t push yerself too far dis time
You might not make it home,
You might not make it mmm mmm,
You might not make it

Don’ play dice with devils,
Don’ look away too lohng,
Don’ go dealin’ with devils, Dave,
Coz devil dealin’s wrong,
My devil dealin’s done mmm mmm,
My devil dealin’s done,
My devil dealin’s done

THE HIDDEN DANGERS OF THE RAINBOW

A 'review' of The Hidden Dangers of The Rainbow, by Constance Cumbey, 1983

This book is a treasure. Ms Cumbey is definitely onto something...

YES! IT'S MY UN-SECRET SECRET PLAN TO UN-TAKEOVER THE WORLD! HOW EVER DID SHE FIND OUT!

She is an excellent and engaging writer and the book is very well researched, and her arguments well thought out - my only criticism is the lack of a decent index (apologies if this minor quibble has been rectified in later editions).

The subtitle of this book reads 'THE NEW AGE MOVEMENT AND THE COMING AGE OF BARBARISM'.

Basically Connie (can I call you that?) points out that 'New Agers' want to put an end to all Mankind's oh-so civilised wars and usher in a barbaric age of peace! Too right!

I would recommend this book to all New-agers, for the following reasons:

1/ ITS AN INVALUABLE REFERENCE WORK FOR EVERY HIPPY. Some of you might be under the impression that you can 'just' do a bit of Yoga and think a few mystical thoughts - this is not the case! - YOU are part of a highly organised, SINISTER plot to end human suffering! If you feel like getting mobilised this book lists all the organisations that are actually er.. organised [REPETITION! I wouldn't do very well on 'Just A Minute'!]. The wealth of well chosen quotes will help you avoid the ones that are most full of cr*p.

2/ SHE MAKES SOME VERY GOOD POINTS THAT NEW-AGERS DON'T LIKE TO THINK ABOUT. She's absoutely right that Madame Blatavsky's Theosophical Society [which introduced mystical ideas to a wider audience in The West and popularised the term 'New Age'] incorporated rascist philosophies, as did some adherents of other 'Mystery Schools' - The Rosicrucians, for example.

She fails to point out that this was BEFORE THE SECOND WORLD WAR. Given the Nazi's riotous display of Occult symbols it is quite probable that these occultists were, at least in part, responsible for Hitler's ideas - and thus the resultant genocide. But this was BEFORE THE SECOND WORLD WAR. The only good thing about The Second World War was that Racism became generally unpopular and socially unacceptable. Of course there are still plenty of Racists - but ask yourself this, Ms Combey: are our contemporary Western Racists the modern mystics?

"I was attacked by a gang of fascist hippies! It was terrible! No, they didn't have knives.. no. No guns.. but they had glowsticks, Constable! And Mrs. Jones from the bakery came out of her Yoga class .. it was terrible .. she put her legs right behind her head and started chanting .. "

I think not. No, the modern racists are not New Agers. Today's racists mainly fall into two groups - extremely rich racists and extremely poor racists. The majority (but by no means all) of the mystics fall somewhere inbetween - the rich have too much money to pass through the eye of a needle, the poor don't have the money or time for mystical pursuits. Why are the super-rich racists? Firstly, by perpetuating an ethnic underclass they get the cheap labour they need to drive their Capitalist machine to even more absurb heights of consumerist frenzy, so the economy keeps on expanding and er.. everyone is happy :)! Secondly, as long as the underclass are given sufficient encouragement to fight amongst themselves they will be unlikely to unite and refuse to participate in the unethical capitalist system, or even have a boring old bloody revolution. Thirdly, worryingly, it's a popular idea that many of them are mystics, old-school Freemasons and Rosicrucians, hanging out in Bohemian Grove, marching around the Astral Realms clutching their silly two-dimensional maps of God as if they owned the place. To be fair, its not so much the teachings that keeps 'em bad - ITS THEIR MONEY and, more specifically, THEIR ATTACHMENT TO IT. Which is why I think we should help them out - on both those scores.

In Tove Jansson's short story 'The Fillyjonk Who Believed In Disasters' the Fillyjonk worries incessantly that her house will be destroyed by a natural disaster - which indeed it is. She runs down the beach, overjoyed that she no longer has to worry about her house - she is TRULY FREE. I tried this - I am homeless, penniless etc. I think it would work better in a non-capitalist society, like Moomin-valley [DEVIATION! To think I had hopes of replacing the dear, late Clement Freud!]

Returning to the point in hand - the early New Age Religions were RELIGIONS - The majority of the contemporary New-Agers do not join religions, or at least stick with one very long, for preceisely these reasons (or perhaps they have just had their concentration spans eroded by all the quick-cuts on television).

These early New-age cults were also more 'magical' than 'mystical' in nature. Buddhism teaches non-attachment - most of these New-age leaders were born rich and made a lot of money - they were clearly attached to power (being leaders) and wealth (being loaded)- and thus not of very great spiritual advancement by modern Western standards.

Connie (it is alright if I call you that?) quotes many early Theosophists, but mainly Alice Bailey, who was particularly racist. My favourite author doesn't mention that even The Theosphists didn't like Alice and they chucked her out.

She also doesn't mention how The Theosophists chose a young boy to be their 'Maitreya' (Messiah) and trained him in their teachings. To their embarassment, Krishnmurti (for that was his name) left the Theosophical Society and started teaching an altogether more enlightened philosophy:
"We don't seem to realize that it is thought that is separating us from the totality of things."
"To me the question of God is irrelevant and immaterial"
Krishnamurti

Yes, he was The Man. Born wealthy, he was the heir to a massive money-spinning cult - and he just walked away with nothing to his name. And like the Fillyjonk he was happy and free. While you are full of attachments there is nothing to stop you from looking into The Mirror-Like White Light - but you will only see your reflection, and only hear its silent truth through the mouths of the demons that you contain.

Krishnamurti never returned to the Theosophist fold - but, tellingly, the Theosophists later withdrew their claim that Sanat Kumara, from Venus (the star formerly known as Lucifer) was 'King of The Earth', and passed the top-job to BUDDHA. Now thats what I call progress!

Connie (I know it really makes steam come out your ears when I call you that) seems to have entirely overlooked the possibility that the essential nature of the New-age movement changed over time as lessons were learned. In any movement of thought it is not always the trailblazing innovators at the inception who get it all perfectly right. Like people cultures learn, one thing at a time. Newton was great, but he didn't discover Relativity or Quantum mechanics. Blatavsky, even Bailey, had some very profound insights - but the early Theosophists were too deeply steeped in the corrupt culture of the time to see past their own racial and cultural prejudices - and their massive egos. We collectively learnt not to be r

Constance, dear, why are you AT WAR WITH PEACE? Connie-poos, my poor little treacle pudding - why are you so full of HATE for those that LOVE?

What do you see when you look into The Mirror-Like White Light?

Constance, Constance. You are a Seventh-Day Adventist!

"The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a Christian denomination which is distinguished by its ... emphasis on the imminent second coming of Jesus" Wikipedia

If you believe in the imminent second-coming of Jesus - why do you only see The Anti-christ everywhere you turn?

All along, the demons you hunted - were you seeing your reflection in The Mirror-Like White Light?

We're all Jesus, baby.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THE JOKER

I am the worst of blogsters. I try to write a few words and The World comes tumbling out.

All my life I have had a building sensation of a message that I must impart - I suppose this is some kind of madness - and, while I kept it well hid, it grew more taut inside - and as this great all-consuming snake unfurled it damn near tore me apart.

If I was to simply accept at face-value the message that I had the subjective experience that it was my responsibility to impart?

And If I was to impart it? Here and now?

Then you would understand quite clearly why so many greater men than I - Men like William Blake, Friedrich Nietschze - have hedged around it, merely made suggestions and allusions, asked you to ask these questions for yourself, where other lesser thinkers have been so keen to didactically assert their absolute rightness in respectable ways and thus advance themselves more thoroughly in the petty world of men.

These men brought just a taste of that which I speak - and the shock was so great that the ripples of their merest allusions to that which I had the subjective of experience of knowing 'will-be-true-in-the-future' and 'was-true-in -the-past', resulted in the greatest focal point of suffering in the story of Man.

And, indeed, His Story has seen much suffering, much suffering. Without suffering there would be no story, and each Man is nothing but His Story, and all men are History! Hahahahahahaha!

Everything that you know is the manifestation of a timeless parable designed to inform and prepare you for the next stage of your collective development. The myths and legends that you tell to explain the world? You ARE the myths and legends that the world uses to explain YOU. I do not expect you to understand this now. The dangerous dynamite of past and future truths is far simpler to explain!

And If I was to impart it? If I was to impart it here and now?

Right here? Right now? You wish me to impart, in no uncertain terms, that which Blake, Nietschze, Crowley, all had the subjective experience of feeling responsible for saying, whether or not they liked it?

'The fact of the matter was that I resented The Book of the Law with my whole soul.. I was bitterly opposed to the principles of the Book on almost every point of morality. The third chapter seemed to me gratuitously atrocious.'
Aleister Crowley

You think that he was joking? Of course I was, I am The Jester! And THIS is the universal joke.

And If I was to impart it? If I was to impart it here and now? And not protect you from it that much, except to say before that it is just a joke? It is a joke.

It is this:

You are Spirit. You are immortal. You are free.

What if I was a man who had had the subjective experience that it was their personal responsibility to communicate this message to other men? Well, I AM.

And what if there had been such a man two millenia ago? How would I set an example for other men, what timeless parable would I cast upon the looms of time to tell this tale? How would I tell this tall, tall story: You are a spirit! Your body is a shell!

To show that I was not attached to my body? I would cast off my body gracefully, I would be the willling martyr, I would sacrifice myself so that others would be free.

And if I wanted to utterly corrupt this message? And plant within it the seeds of its opposite? then, first, I would say: 'this man said he was The Son of GOD'.

Well, of course thats what I would have said, WE are all The Children of GOD, WE are The Brotherhood of Man.

But if I wanted to pervert this message and enslave you with it? Then I would say 'this was not a man, he was The Son of GOD - he said so himself.'

And if these blasphempous words were cast in stone at some unholy Roman table - all at once my sacrifice would have been in vain. Why? Can you not see? The story weaved so tightly, 'pon these looms of time, would not be of a man who set an example by not attaching value to his body - you would have made me of some other substance entirely!

I died so that you may LIVE. Here! Now! Free, on Earth! Free! Not enslaved by Romans, you fools!

There was never any question of your spirit living on, if it was of any substance. And if it was of no substance? Then, for you, the greatest destination of all - becoming one without attachments with the spirit of the whole, the whole spirit, the holy spirit, the being at the beginning and the end of time, The ABSOLUTE Unchanging Timeless State of One.

I died so that you may live. LIVE. Here. Now. Free, on Earth. This is what you should be doing!

But they told you that you were bad! Oh! That you were born bad, baby! Oh, each of you such terrible, evil babies, not at all born like Jesus, so perfect and so immaculate in conception, not like man at all. This they told you! This they told you. They broke your spirit! They broke your spirit.

They invented the Devil - and they made HIM in each man! Each man, so nearly saved early! Oh, you are so wrong to want, whats normal and whats natural!

The Jews, The Jews who made this man - The Jews, what of them? Of course they did not buy it for minute! But they were already broken by a world of men that had alrready treated them so unfairly and unkindly that they bore upon their shoulders a millenia of grudges - not surprising, really, then, that they set themselves up above other men! Counter-productive, really, though, to say my God's the ONE, I'm saved, NOT you - particulary when you are the stranger, not quite home, always in danger. But oh! The mighty noble spirit of a people who would not be further broken by any might, the greatest single pacifist resistance cast throughout time in the holy name against the tyranny of false idols. But oh! So sad, that only the greatest grudges and the most repulsive stains of time should be the very cord that binds such mighty spirits and their minds.

And heres a part that you REALLY won't like, being of this time! Oh, Being-of-This-Time, you will NOT like this FUNNY joke -

Two millenia ago, if I were this kind of man, to show that I was not attached to my body - I would cast off my body gracefully, I would be the willling martyr, I would sacrifice myself so that others would be free. And if I had the knowledge of foresight? That my sacrifice would be used to further enslave Mankind for two further millenia more? All stories? They are just stories. They can be told any way dishonest men please - the only way to ensure the perpetuation of my dream is for other men to take my example and be as human sacrifices, as and when, at least once a year! Hahahahahahaha!

You are Spirit. You are immortal. You are free.

Hahahahahahaha!

The body will not be sacred, the spirit will be sacred. The body will be the spirit's toy, it's tool, a mechanism to be enjoyed, exalted and indulged, then cast aside.

There will be no shame in suicide, euthanasia - the minimisation of the suffering endured by the spirit will be of prime importance. We will act with Love, love of the spirit before the love of the spirit's creations, of it's SELF above it's dreams it casts across this void you deem 'The World'.

Yes, of course, I am joking, I do not believe in a return to human sacrifice or a culture in which we show no respect for the human body on the grounds that we are fundamentally spirit. I only ask for you to consider the implications if were so that:

You are Spirit. You are immortal. You are free.

Ha! ha

ha..

oh.

THE MAGIC OF SCIENCE, THE SCIENCE OF MAGIC

What have your scientists ACTually been investigating? They seek secret numerical codes, hoping to unlock the exact essence of the supernatural world that they inhabit, and thus harness its power.

And what have they found? Secret numerical codes, that have enabled them to harness the power of your world and perform great feats. They have developed ever more rigorous methods and effective tools for unlocking the unseen properties of ‘matter’, constructed entire esoteric languages for expressing the complex abstractions necessary to unearth this 'magic'. And what has been done with this magic?

The ‘scientists’ have already built the magic carpets imagined in some early science-fiction tale. They gave us the horseless carriage so long ago, it is hard for many of us to imagine life without it. Was it entirely responsible for Mr Ford et al to share this magic with everyone? Did anyone ever consider what consequences their dalliance in The Black Arts might have for the world? Did it ever occur to anyone that in a hundred years the holes their magic tore in the fabric of the space which they inhabit might bring mankind demonstrably close to The End of The World, or at least the end of the world as we know it? Or did they just want to sell more cars, or provide more and cheaper flights to make more money? What have they given us and what have they taken?

They have given us magic wands, both of the kind that can kill and maim and take lives at great distance; and the kind that allow us to talk to people on the other side of the world, even while eating our breakfast or driving in our horseless carriages.

They have achieved greater longevity, at least for themselves and the people of their nation, and for those that can afford to pay.

As far as I know they have not yet achieved eternal life - but it is on the list. If it becomes available, under the current mechanisms of world government, immortality, too, will be available for those that can pay (even if it is against international law the free market economy will provide what money can buy, one way or another). Is this what you want?

Neither, yet, do I believe have they succeeded in turning lead into gold - though they have turned ashes to diamonds - which is pretty good going for a bunch of monkeys.

How have they used this magic they call ‘science’? It is a fairly common idea that good, responsible magic is practiced only for the common good, and that bad magic is practiced for selfish ends. The mechanism by which you govern the distribution of your wealth and the relative power of individuals is known as ‘the economy’ – this mechanism, in combination with the capitalist, consumerist, competitive, individualist ethos, has seen it to it that the majority of research into the secret codes has been used to enslave people and wage war.

Consider this defintion, from dictionary.com, for the word Astral:

"Theosophy. noting a supersensible substance pervading all space and forming the substance of a second body (astral body) belonging to each individual. It accompanies the individual through life, is able to leave the human body at will, and survives the individual after death."

This is all backwards. The Astral Plane is where we emerge from and where we return. It is more fundamental than the world we inhabit, it is the world of our origins, it imagines us into being. Our world is the supersensible substance, our physical bodies our second bodies, our Astral bodies our first.

What you call the 'supernatural 'is the cosmic thought from which forms of your type emerge – and is thus that which is, by your current definition, more ‘natural’ (if ‘natural’ is a meaningful term at all). Is this merely rhetoric? We don’t think so – we are trying to point out the manner in which your language is loaded, to make you question the very paradigms that underlie Mankind’s most destructive behaviour patterns. To me the supposition that the material world is the most fundamental reality seems akin to supposing that the world is flat prior to one’s having circumnavigated it. If in a former time you had given the Earth a descriptive name which meant ‘the centre of the universe’ you would consider an alternative name when you discovered that it went around the sun. If you were stupid enough to make the same mistake again and gave the Sun that same descriptive name meaning ‘the centre of the universe’ you may, again, consider an alternative name when you discovered the Sun was just one of many stars amongst millions of Galaxies.

The supernatural is natural. The natural is supernatural.
Natural. Supernatural.
Become ONE in Nature.

Magic is Science. Science is Magic.
Science. Magic.
Become ONE - ONE Meta-science, ONE Deeper
magic – ONE , single, unified BEING.

THE ASTRALOGOSPHERE

ASTRALOGOSPHERE [noun]

This word was first used in 1891 by the esotericist H.P.Blatavsky, to describe what is commonly referred to as 'the collective unconscious' - though she regarded it as being conscious in it's own right! I can almost taste the sight if this Victorian spiritualist and medium sitting down for a pot of tea and a biscuit, while exchanging polite tittle-tattle with The Astralogosphere about Queen Victoria and The End of The World.

This month saw this much under-feted word make an unlikely break for the mainstream, boasting a remarkable three appearances in the dailies, in as many weeks - probably due to its resonances with the emergent term 'blogosphere' - which describes the collective musings of the masses as expressed via the medium of the blog.

On reflection this suggested astral murmuring - being another kind of collected conversation - might have more in common with the blogosphere than a shared suffix. If one could prove ‘The Astralogosphere’ existed we could even go so far as to regard ‘the blogosphere’ as a technological extension of this realm, a material and verbal crystallisation of 'the word on the street'. Helena Blatavsky is not alone - being, as I am, completely stark-staring - I too believe in these things, and, as such, I propose that we insert the following elegant (yet wonderfully cumbersome!) alternative, whenever tempted to litter our literary musings with that tawdry, vulgar invented word: 'blogosphere':

TECHNOASTRALOGOSPHERE [noun]
The Blogosphere.

Of course, I am joking. A far more sensible system of nomenclature would be to abbreviate Astrologosphere to Alogosphere, thus restoring the B-logosphere's Ethereal precursor to it's A-list position without resorting to the untimely invention of gloriously absurd seven-letter words.

LOGOS [noun]
1. Philosophy. the rational principle that governs and develops the universe.
2. Theology. the divine word or reason incarnate in Jesus Christ.
