THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Jung suggests that the evocative, timeless, archtypal images of the tarot can be a useful tool in communicating with our unconscious.

Similarly Rorschach butterflies, arbitary inkblot images that have been mirrored, are used in psychological assessments, another window on an individual's unconscious contents. The human mind finds patterns in chaos, particularly when symettry is applied.

It is not surprising, then, that when I began experimenting with mirroring nature photographs that I saw the archtypal tarot imagery in the twists of the branches and leaves.

That I have framed and enhanced the pictures means that your interpretation will be guided by mine, but enough ambiguity remains for the viewer to read their own cosmologies into the chaos.
